Dupa cateva ore de ploi abundente, intreaga regiune a fost devastata. Suvoaiele de apa au peste 2 metri in unele zone si au luat totul in calea lor. Sute de autoturisme au fost distruse, la fel si locuintele.

Scolile au fost de asemenea inchise in Jeddah, dar si in mai multe orase invecinate.

Din cauza conditiilor meteo, si decolarea unor aeronave de pe aeroportul din zona a fost intarziata. Orasul situat pe tarmul Marii Rosii este afectat in fiecare an de ploi torentiale si inundatii, iar localnicii se plang de mult timp de lipsa unei infrastructuri adaptate la aceste conditii meteo.
